Not a Thimble of Hazardous Waste
Mastercraft founder, Steve Berglund grew up working in his father’s dry cleaning business. Steve swept floors and pressed shirts along with his studies at Fresno High School. The family business was important to Steve from an early age, prompting him to continue working alongside his father upon honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. The Berglunds successfully opened and managed numerous dry cleaning facilities and the family business grew to include more than seventy-five employees.
From the beginning, Mastercraft has been focused on providing superior customer service and high-quality dry cleaning. Steve brings more than fifty years of experience to Mastercraft; from working alongside his father, graduating from the Gerber School for Advancement of Dry Cleaning Skills, launching multiple dry cleaning operations and perfecting the solvent-free dry cleaning process.
The early 1990s were difficult for the Mastercraft family with the news that Steve had been diagnosed with cancer. This challenging period resulted in closing several locations. During this transition, Steve learned that his exposure to dry cleaning solvents was the possible cause of the cancer. Through this painful experience, Steve began a journey towards enlightenment that resulted in investigating healthier alternatives to dry cleaning.
Today, Mastercraft utilizes Wet Cleaning, a commonplace European solvent-free method of dry cleaning. Wet Cleaning is biodegradable, safe, odor free and with no hazardous waste removal. For almost ten years, Mastercraft has provided their customers with this green alternative to harsh chemical cleaning. In pursuit of perfecting the solvent-free process, Steve discovered his Wet Cleaning process removes the residue left behind after dry cleaning in solvents.
